This classic aluminum moka pot is designed to brew rich, strong coffee on a stovetop. It consists of three main parts: the lower boiler, the middle filter basket, and the upper coffee collector.
Unscrew the moka pot into three parts: the lower boiler, the filter basket, and the upper collector.
Fill the lower boiler with cold water up to just below the safety valve (do not cover the valve).
Place the filter basket into the boiler. Add finely ground coffee to the basket, filling it loosely (do not pack the grounds). Tap the basket gently to level the coffee.
Screw the upper collector tightly onto the boiler. Ensure the rubber seal and filter plate are in place to prevent leaks.
Place the moka pot on your stovetop. Use low to medium heat. If using a gas stove, keep the flame low and contained to the base of the pot (avoid flames licking the sides).
As the water heats, steam will build pressure and push hot water up through the coffee grounds into the upper chamber.
You will hear a bubbling/gurgling sound when the coffee starts to flow into the top. Once the flow slows down and you see light brown foam (crema) forming, remove the pot from the heat immediately.
Serve the coffee directly from the pot. For a milder taste, you can dilute it with hot water.
Heat Safety:
The pot becomes extremely hot during and after use. Always hold it by the black handle only. Use oven mitts if needed.
Do not leave the pot unattended on the stove. Overheating can cause the pot to burn or build dangerous pressure.
Never use high heat; this can scorch the coffee and damage the aluminum.
Pressure & Leak Safety:
Ensure the rubber gasket and filter plate are clean and properly seated before each use. A faulty seal can cause pressure buildup or hot water to spray out.
Do not overfill the boiler with water. Covering the safety valve can cause excessive pressure buildup.
Do not open the pot while it is hot or under pressure. Wait until it has cooled completely before unscrewing it.
Usage Restrictions:
This pot is for stovetop use only. Do not use it in the microwave or oven.
Do not use abrasive scrubbers or metal utensils on the aluminum surface, as they can scratch it.
Keep out of reach of children, as the pot and its contents are very hot.
After use, let the pot cool completely before cleaning.
Disassemble all parts. Rinse the boiler, filter basket, collector, and gasket with warm water. Use a soft sponge to remove coffee residue.
Do not use dish soap or abrasive cleaners, as they can leave a soapy taste and damage the aluminum.
Dry all parts thoroughly with a towel before reassembling or storing.
Note: A light patina on the aluminum surface is normal and helps improve the flavor of future brews.
Store the pot in a cool, dry place. Keep all parts together to avoid losing the gasket or filter.
Do not wrap the pot in plastic, as this can trap moisture and cause corrosion.
