Place the sharpener on a stable, flat, non-slip surface near a power outlet.
Ensure the power switch is in the “OFF (O)” position before plugging it in.
Wipe the blades of your knives/scissors clean and dry to remove food residue, oil, or water.
Turn on the device: Press the power switch to the “ON (–)” position. The motor will start running.
Select the correct slot:
Coarse Sharpening Slot (1st stage): For very dull, damaged, or heavily used knives. This stage reshapes the blade’s edge.
Fine Sharpening Slot (2nd stage): For refining and polishing the edge after coarse sharpening, or for regular maintenance of already sharp knives.
Scissors Sharpening Slot: Specifically designed for kitchen scissors.
Sharpen the blade:
Hold the knife handle firmly. Insert the blade into the correct slot at a consistent angle (the sharpener is pre-set to the optimal angle, so no manual adjustment is needed).
Gently pull the knife straight back toward you through the slot with light, steady pressure. Do not push the knife back and forth.
Repeat 3-5 times in the coarse slot, then 3-5 times in the fine slot for best results.
Sharpening scissors: Insert one blade of the scissors into the dedicated scissors slot, close the scissors, and pull them through the slot slowly. Repeat 2-3 times.
Turn off the device: When finished, press the switch to “OFF (O)” and unplug the sharpener.
Clean the blade: Wipe the knife/scissors with a clean cloth to remove metal shavings before use.
Keep fingers away: Never touch the sharpening slots or moving parts while the device is running. Always hold the knife by the handle, keeping fingers clear of the blade path.
Not for all knives: Do NOT use on serrated knives, ceramic knives, scissors with serrated edges, or very thin/weak blades (e.g., disposable or extremely delicate knives), as these can be damaged.
Do not force the blade: Never push the knife into the slot with excessive force. The sharpener’s motor and abrasive wheels will do the work; forcing can damage both the blade and the device.
Keep the device dry: Do not use the sharpener near water or expose it to moisture, to avoid electric shock or damage to internal components.
Unplug when not in use: Always unplug the device before cleaning, maintenance, or if it malfunctions.
Keep away from children: Store the sharpener out of reach of children, and do not allow children to operate it.
Do not leave unattended: Do not leave the sharpener running while unattended.
Ventilation: Ensure the sharpener’s air vents are not blocked during use to prevent overheating.
Always unplug the sharpener and let it cool completely before cleaning.
Use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe the exterior of the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or submerge the sharpener in water.
To remove metal shavings: Use a small, dry brush (e.g., a soft paintbrush) to gently brush out the shavings from the slots. Some models have a removable tray at the bottom to collect shavings – empty and clean this tray regularly.
Store the sharpener in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Avoid dropping or knocking the device, as this can misalign the internal sharpening wheels.
