Preparing the Container
Before use, thoroughly wash the inner stainless steel pot (and any included jars) with hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely, or sanitize them with boiling water to eliminate bacteria that could spoil the yogurt.
Mixing Ingredients
Pour 1 liter of pasteurized milk (whole milk works best for creaminess) into the pot.
Add 1–2 tablespoons of yogurt starter culture (or 1 small container of plain, unsweetened store-bought yogurt with live active cultures).
Stir the mixture gently with a clean spoon until the starter is fully dissolved and evenly distributed.
Starting the Fermentation Process
Place the lid securely on the pot.
Plug the yogurt maker into a grounded electrical outlet. The power indicator light will turn on, indicating the unit is heating.
The yogurt maker maintains a constant, low temperature (38–45°C / 100–113°F) for fermentation. The standard fermentation time is 6–12 hours:
6–8 hours: Mild, runny yogurt.
8–10 hours: Creamy, medium consistency.
10–12 hours: Tangy, thick yogurt.
Do not unplug or move the unit during fermentation, as this can disrupt the process.
Finishing & Storing
Once fermentation is complete, unplug the unit.
Transfer the yogurt to clean, airtight containers and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set fully.
Homemade yogurt will keep for up to 7 days in the refrigerator. Add fruit, honey, or granola before eating if desired.
Hygiene is critical: Always use clean, sanitized utensils and containers. Bacteria from dirty equipment can cause the yogurt to spoil or fail to set.
Do not immerse the main base of the yogurt maker in water or other liquids. The heating element and electrical components are not waterproof.
Keep the unit on a flat, stable surface away from water sources, heat, and direct sunlight during use.
Do not leave the yogurt maker unattended for extended periods. Unplug it immediately if you notice unusual odors, smoke, or overheating.
Use only pasteurized milk. Raw milk contains harmful bacteria that can multiply during fermentation and cause illness.
Do not use expired milk or expired starter culture.
If the yogurt develops an off smell, mold, or unusual texture after fermentation, discard it immediately.
Unplug the yogurt maker and let it cool completely before cleaning.
Remove the inner pot and lid. Wash them with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge. They are usually top-rack dishwasher safe (check your specific model’s instructions).
Wipe the main base with a damp cloth to remove spills or residue. Never submerge the base in water.
Dry all parts thoroughly before reassembling or storing.
